MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH
3300 Martintown Road
Edgefield, SC 29824
The MOMBC Youth Ministry consists of our Children’s Church, the Breath of Life Teen Choir, God’s Little Angels Youth Choir, and our very own Praise Dance Team (God’s G.I.F.T.S.).
The MOMBC Children’s Church was initially introduced and directed by Deaconess Teresa (Pickens) Edwards in December 2005. Soon to follow was orientation and on February 5, 2005, Children’s Church officially began. After being trained by Deaconess Edwards, the new director became Sister Gladys Mealing Mason.
Each lesson is begun with reciting the Lord’s Prayer and Psalm 23. The children have a lesson on pre-outlined subjects that are Bible based. Arts and Crafts are included in some of the lessons, as well as role playing and skits. Sometimes the children go outside and just simply have fun. We finish with a song, eat refreshments, clean-up, and then enter regular church service during Altar Call. Children ages 3-16 are encouraged to join us for Children’s Church every 3rd Sunday following Sunday School.
Our youth are involved in the community. We sing occasionally at the local nursing home to the residents. We also participate in the Heritage Festival every year by selling baked goods as a fundraiser. Our youth activities include back yard barbecues, going to the movies, museums, and bowling trips. Also, our youth travel out of town with the church on our annual bus trips. We fellowship with youth from other churches in the Mt. Canaan Association Union by singing with the choir. We raised money and collected Christmas gifts for the Fatty Marsha Foundation, an organization that helps children living with HIV & AIDS.
Through the grace of God and appreciated donations from members and friends, our youth ministry has been supplied with the necessary items that the children need to minister through music.
I am extremely grateful to God for using and allowing me to work with His most precious gifts on Earth. I thank God for the forward moving of our Youth Ministry and I can’t wait to see what He has in store for us in the years to come!
